Please read these terms of service carefully before using the Still OK app.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Still OK app, you agree to be bound by these terms of service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.
2. Description of Service
Still OK is a personal safety app that functions as a deadman's switch. Users must periodically confirm they are okay by tapping a button in the app. If a user fails to check in within their set interval, the app may automatically notify their designated emergency contacts via email, WhatsApp, and/or SMS. The app also offers optional location sharing and a manual SOS alert feature.
3. Eligibility and Minimum Age
You must be at least 16 years old to use this app. If you are under 16, you may only use the app with parental consent. By using the app, you represent that you meet these requirements.
4. Cost and Premium Features
The app is free to download and use with core functionality (email notifications, daily check-in, 1 contact). The app is completely ad-free — both the free and premium versions.
Premium Subscriptions
The app offers optional premium subscriptions that unlock additional features such as flexible check-in intervals (12 hours to 1 month), WhatsApp and SMS notifications to your emergency contacts, GPS location sharing, SOS alerts, unlimited contacts, and an emergency profile for storing vital safety information that is automatically included in alert notifications. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your app store settings.
SMS Credits
SMS notifications use a credit-based system. Premium subscribers receive an initial credit allowance when they first subscribe. Additional credits can be purchased as one-time packs. Each SMS notification costs 1 credit per contact, regardless of the message length. Credits do not expire and are not reset — they remain available until used. When your credits are exhausted, SMS notifications will not be sent until credits are replenished, but email and WhatsApp notifications will continue to function normally.
WhatsApp Notifications
Premium subscribers may also receive WhatsApp notifications as an alternative to SMS. WhatsApp notifications are sent automatically when a contact's phone number is associated with WhatsApp — no manual setup is required. WhatsApp notifications are included in your premium subscription at no additional credit cost, subject to reasonable personal use. If WhatsApp is unavailable for a contact, the app automatically falls back to SMS (which uses credits). We reserve the right to adjust fair-use limits to ensure service quality. Significant changes to these limits will be communicated to users via the app or email.
Usage Limits
To ensure service quality and prevent abuse, messaging features are subject to usage limits (e.g., daily sending limits, test message limits). These limits are designed to accommodate normal personal safety use. We may adjust these limits from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the app or email.
5. No Guarantee of Service
While we strive to provide a reliable service, we cannot guarantee:
- Uninterrupted availability of the app or notification service
- Timely delivery of notification emails, WhatsApp, or SMS messages (dependent on third-party services and carrier networks)
- That notifications will be received or read by your emergency contacts
- SMS or WhatsApp delivery to all countries or mobile networks (availability may vary by region, carrier, and whether the recipient uses WhatsApp)
This app is intended as an additional safety measure and should not be your only emergency plan. It is not a substitute for official emergency services (e.g. 112, 911). Always have backup safety measures in place.
6. User Responsibilities
As a user, you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate emergency contact information and keeping your emergency profile up to date
- Testing the notification system with your contacts
- Informing your contacts about the app and what notifications mean
- Keeping your app updated to the latest version
- Checking in on time or adjusting your interval as needed
- Ensuring you have a working internet connection for the service to function
- Obtaining consent from your emergency contacts before adding their email addresses or phone numbers
- Managing your SMS credit balance and understanding that SMS notifications require available credits (WhatsApp notifications do not use credits)
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use or inability to use the app, including but not limited to damages arising from delayed or failed notifications.
This limitation does not apply to damages resulting from intent or gross negligence on our part, or to liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
8. Warranty Disclaimer
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, secure, or available at all times. This does not affect your statutory warranty rights as a consumer under applicable law.
9. Privacy
Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect and use your information.
10. Intellectual Property
The app and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
11. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the app:
- For any unlawful purpose or in violation of any laws
- To harass, abuse, or harm other persons
- To send spam or unsolicited messages through the service
- To interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
- To attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service
12. Termination
You may terminate your use of the app at any time by deleting your account through the app settings. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the app at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these terms.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes through the app. Your continued use of the app after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For consumers residing in the EU, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence also apply.
15. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that comes closest to the original intent.
